She missed him.
She did not really feel like herself. She was so accustomed to spending so much time with him that his absence now felt queer. She had given a part of herself to him. The connection they shared had ended; the missing piece of herself gave her an odd feeling. She felt lost.
It was then that the words from a book she had read earlier come back to her.
At the lowest points in our lives, we tend to shut down. We live life and get through one day after another but it seems almost disoriented. We let our grief overwhelm us.
It was at this exact point in her life, weeks after the parting, when the words from the book echoed back to her in her hour of need. She threw herself into her work. She refused to shut herself off; she stayed awake. It was painful but she dealt with it. She felt a shift in her perception; she saw more clearly in this wind whirl of emotions; she began to appreciate life and everything that came with it.
Soon after, she became a different person.
She metamorphosed to a dauntless; she transformed into a lionhearted individual.
She felt marvelous.
It was almost a journey to Self Discovery for her. She became more learned at the end of the journey.
They chose to break ties not because there was no love but because they were different people. They just could not adapt. While she was prepared to try, he refused… was it perhaps for the good? At the moment, it seemed so.
She had found a piece to fill the void with; missing pieces need to be replaced much like wounds need to be healed properly. It would not fit perfectly but the little blank spaces and emptiness is what made her stronger. She now wears her scars with pride and takes it in her stride.
She still missed him but the time was ripe for her to let it go. Her life awaited.
“The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you
Don’t go back to sleep!
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep!
People are going back and forth
Across the doorsill where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open
Don’t go back to sleep!”
