It flickered,
Not once, not twice,
But in hundreds and thousands
Throughout the night;
While one is flaunting
The brand new watch
Under distorted disco lights,
The other struggles
To put the fuse together
In an attempt to make the future bright.
A few hundreds for a pair of aroma-crafted lights?
Wow, that’s a steal!
A couple twenty for clay-coated earthen lights?
Well, that’s too much for the deal!
A lit candle
to accompany an exquisite meal
And a lit candle
worrying about how to pay the month bill.
Lights are loved
By one and all
Just that the quantity one receives
Is determined, perhaps, by a crystal ball.
