The Carpet Of Flowers

1–2 minutes
indian poems

They said to me today,
that they have been waiting,
for a fresh piece of writing
and that I no longer write poetry.
Poems that used to
evoke a sense of connection.

This morning, I was taken aback
for a moment by the sight of a
carpet of flowers artfully
strewn beneath the sky.

The petals were illuminated
by the sun’s rays,
the chirps of the birds around,
a cool breeze blowing softly.

My feet wouldn’t let me tread on
those little flower-shaped earrings,
despite my soul wanting to dance
on the flower carpet.

Let no one step on them,
my soul pleaded.
I gathered my hands
to hold the flowers with joy
and feel the beauty of nature.

The petals were fragile,
They required a little care.
Just as humans do,
some gentle words to inspire,
trust to stand strong,
kindness to connect,
a little care and love for life.

There is a time for hope
and a time for despair.
Said the wind,
that blew with a sudden change.
The flowers in my hands tumbled
to the ground making the carpet look full.

Just as a blessing from the above.
