It never strikes you, how young and innocent you actually are.
Clothes folded neatly, socks tucked under perfectly polished back shoes, and a backpack filled with chips and drinks. Nothing could top this trip.
The alarm was set for 6:00 AM, an extra hour needed to put in more effort into the outfit of the day, because people were going to bring cameras and that meant photo albums on Facebook. You had to look your best, no arguments.
The iPod was ready on shuffle, the top hits were scheduled to be played in order; having DJ duty was a big responsibility. Only the coolest kids got the opportunity to do so.
With all the excitement building up, getting tucked into bed wasn’t something you would expect. It was almost like Christmas, and you vowed to keep your eyes open till you caught Santa placing a gift under your pillow.
The excitement kept you awake.
There was nothing you were more sure of in the world: this was going to be the best day of your life.
You had your friends, arm-in-arm, singing and dancing, and screaming for no reason, very well aware that these were the days you’re never going to forget.
It was bitter-sweet: knowing you were living out happy memory; knowing you are living in a moment that you’re never going to get back.
I’ll cherish the memory forever.
