Waiting For The Soldier | Dhara Popat

It’s been years he’s gone,

But she still waits for him.

Sitting in the verandah,

With all the lights dim.

Days and nights

Pass by like years,

His chirm is

All that she hears.

Glass bangles, vermillion, jasmine buds

All stay in their place.

Had he been here he’d not

See anything except her face.

The brave soldier

That lost his life,

Is never coming back,

Someone told his wife.

It’s been years he’s gone,

But she still waits for him.

Sitting in the verandah,

With all the lights dim.
